I took the kids on a field trip to the Heritage Center at the local Farmer's Market. They got to learn how to milk a cow (using a full-sized wooden cow with rubber udders filled with milk), how to churn the milk into butter, how to pump water manually, how to wash clothes with a washboard and ringer, and how to grow soybeans. They had a lot of fun and learned a lot about how things were done in days gone by.
